Fun Finds Friday....free chart!

Don't you just love bright and cheerful cross stitching? I stumbled upon this design on Instagram and fell in love with the colours.....and the fact that you can change the colours to suit what you have in your thread stash or change it to pastel shades.....so many possibilities!

The design 'American Honey Stitching'  is by Keera Job and you can get the free chart here

I guess that's another one to add to my never-ending to-stitch list!

Until next time....happy stitching!

It's been one of those weeks!

I've been good this week...well kind of!

I was determined to work on the cardinal stitching, and so that I wasn't tempted to pick up the seashell design, I took it off the q-snaps and put it at the bottom of my sewing basket. The cardinal was put on the q-snaps but despite my good intentions, there wasn't an awful lot of time to stitch through the week.....sometimes life gets in the way. But to preserve my sanity I decided that I would stitch at least one threads length every night.

Stitching is addictive and this sums it up nicely...

I was hoping to spend the weekend stitching, but my daughter called and asked me to go shopping with her on Saturday......then Sunday was a day spent with a friend, so this weekend wasn't one for stitching progress - but it was fun :)

So here's how the cardinal is looking now...

Any progress is better than no progress.....don't you agree?

Here's wishing you (and me!) a week with lots of stitching progress!

Until next time...happy stitching!

Fun Finds Friday....stitchable mesh!

This week's Fun Finds again comes courtesy of Pinterest. This caught my eye as something a bit different and would make a great gift for anyone who loves to travel....also for non-travelers....... really it would be a great gift to stitch for anyone really!

This project uses stitchable mesh which I had never heard of before. A quick search with good old Google came up with many stockists....the usual big named craft stores and on-line retailers. Click here for the  post from The Scrap Shoppe blog which has the instructions and also a link to the etsy store for the gorgeous floral map chart.

Hope you like this weeks find.....I've added yet another project to my to-stitch list!

Until next time....happy stitching!

I have no self-discipline!

I admit it....no self-discipline at all! I said last week that I was going to work on the cardinal design but I didn't...no excuses.....I just carried on stitching those seashells.......

There's not much progress on this design as we have been enjoying the lovely summer weather and walking in the evenings which means that there isn't a lot of stitching time.

Here's where we have been walking....isn't it pretty?

Sadly the baby geese that I shared with you last week haven't fared too well. There were six babies last week and this week there were only two. They are getting bigger and are waddling around, still looking adorable.....

The sunshine brought out the turtles who were soaking up the rays...

They're not as cute as the baby goose, but they did look funny all basking in the sunshine.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Until next time...happy stitching!

Fun Finds Friday....

This Friday's fun find proves that you can cross stitch on almost anything! Check this out...

Dare I admit that I have a letter rack and pencil holder in this boring office supply style? Guess it's time to update the look....the instructions are here. How cool is that?

Until next time...happy stitching!

Nothing brightens your day like......

.....some new cross stitch supplies!

I treated myself to a new set of q-snaps as the sizes that I have just weren't quite working for me, they were either a bit too large or a bit too small. My local craft store doesn't stock these so I had to order on-line and wait for the postman to deliver them.....oh the anticipation! So with my new 11 x 11 inch q-snaps I managed to get a fair bit of stitching done. And this is where I have to come clean and admit that I didn't, as promised, work on the cardinal design - such a surprise, uh? :)

Here's where I was last week with the seashells design....

....and here is my progress......

 ....with the nice new q-snaps!

And you can now tell that it's definitely a seashell!

Progress on stitching projects slows down for me at this time of year.....firstly because it's the ice hockey play-off season (we're big hockey fans!) and you can't stitch and watch hockey! And secondly, because the weather is getting better and it's nice to spend some time outside. We are very lucky to live quite close to nature preserve where we like to walk. This weekend we came across this mama and her fluffy little babies....

...aren't they cute? We didn't get too close as we didn't want to stress her. It definitely feels like Spring has finally arrived!

Until next time...happy stitching!

Fun Finds Friday - Cross stitch bag

So this weeks Fun Finds kind of ties in with my post from Monday when I realized that I should go through my stash to get reacquainted with what I already own!

So I had found this design that I thought would be great to post.....

Image copyright www.polkadotchair.com

....cute, practical, and helping to save us from using plastic carrier bags. The chart and instructions can be found here. You will have to subscribe to Polkadotchair mailing list to access the chart, but the good news is that you can then access all of Melissa's other craft templates and designs.

Now you may be wondering how this ties in to my statement of getting reacquainted with what's in my stash...well look at what I found while going through it all.....

So now I have no excuse....I can help save the environment and use up my stash....and also have a cute bag too!

Until next time....happy stitching!
